THE POWER OF PREVAILING PRAYER

A prevailing  prayer is a prayer that generates answers that overshadow the problems that existed before it was offered. It is  a prayer that conquers, overcomes and delivers answers.

Prayer has so much power which many children of God have not harnessed.

There is too much theoretical knowledge about prayer but very little practice of it.

Christians have had problems because they lack knowledge.

Characteristics of a prevailing prayer

1.It must be born out of a strong desire (Proverbs 18:1, Mark 11:24)

   This desire should have been motivated by the promises of God’s word.

   A strong desire that turns into desperation to meet God.

   Don’t pray until you have a strong desire towards God.

2. It must be faith-filled (Matthew 21:21- 22)

   To pray without faith is a waste of time.

3.It must be specific (Mark 11:23-24, Philippians 4:6)

   Don’t generalize things, be specific

   Not being specific in prayer is similar to playing football without goal posts.

4.It must have a right motive (1 Kings 18:19, John 3:16)

   Our prayers must be rooted in the right motive.

5.Persistence and perseverance (Luke 18:1)

6.Pray fervently (James 5:16-17)

What are some of the effects of a word based, fervent, prevailing prayer?

1.Enhances spirituality (a God consciousness) and fellowship with God (John 4: 24)

   Carnality is traceable to prayerlessness and lack of word content.

   Carnality leads to death (Romans 8:6)

      How does prayer enhance our fellowship with God.

      a) leads us to brokenness of heart which is nearness to God (Isaiah 57:15, 1 Corinthians 6:17)

       Your spirit gets joined to God in prayer and there is a seamless flow.

      b) access to the voice of God (Acts 10:9)

2.Facilitates fulfilment of prophecies into tangible realities (1 Timothy 1:18)

   God may give you a prophecy but it will require prayer in order for it to become a reality.

   In prayer your limitations are exchanged with God’s unlimited strength.

   Only the humble need God and express their needs to him through prayer.

   Whatever prayer can not do, much prayer can do.

3.Facilitates divine preservation and exemption

      How is this accomplished?

       a.by building a hedge (Ezekiel 22:30, )

       b.Prayer mobilizes angelic covering and activities that lead to protection (Psalm 103:20)

        When you give voice to the word in prayer, you mobilize angels.

4.brings about breakthroughs

      a.by divine intervention (Revelation 5:8)

      b. by overturning enemy embargos and sieges (Matthew 17:21,Ezekiel 21:27

      c.reversal of unpleasant decrees (Isaiah 38:2,5)

5.prayer facilitates the superimposition of blessings over curses leading to a fulfilled life

   1 Chronicles 4:9-10, Galatians 3:9, Genesis 32:24-28

6.Facilitates the acquisition of grace needed in every area of our lives (Hebrews 4:16)

7.Facilitates possession of our desired inheritance from God (Luke 18:1-8)

8.Prayer is a powerful form of kingdom service which births God’s purposes into manifestation (Daniel 6:10, 16, Luke 2:36-37)

   Prayer is service to God.

11.Facilitates termination of captivity (Psalm 126:1,4)

12.Platform for accessing divine wisdom (James 1:5, Proverbs 2:6)
