Thanksgiving
• If there is any preparation we have made for any exam that is higher than the preparation we have made for the exams of life then we have no understanding.
• Don’t come to church to ease your conscience.
• You come to church to receive life.
Ps 84:7, 1 Sam 3:21
• It is only the word you see that you are entitled to become.
• Hearing is only the first level, your eyes should open to see what God is saying.
• It is rare for someone to get 0 in an exam, many times people score some marks in the exam but it is not enough to make them pass.
• Similarly, most christians know a little something but is not enough to bring them what they want.
Rom 1:20-21
• When a person has come to the point of thanksgiving , that thanksgiving may take the form of worship, praise, testimonies, etc.
• If one sees the things that God has made but does not understand, they will still not do the right thing.
• Don’t mistake dancing for praising God, there is the issue of the heart and imagination.
• Thanksgiving should be a lifestyle.
Ps 105:1
• Don’t be deceived by the devil to think that it is humility not to stand before the congregation and testify.
Mk 5:33
• Testifying is also a way of thanksgiving.
• There is testifying to God and also testifying to people before God.
• Have wisdom regarding sharing testimonies.
Lk 2:51
• Premature exposure and premature sharing aborts breakthroughs.
• When you receive a prophetic word, increase your prayer life otherwise you’ll bring trouble on yourself.
• Everything must be secured by prayer.
• Be sensitive.
• Sharing something that you have not taken to God in prayer is exposing the person who told you to the devil.
• As a husband / wife , you should know your spouse.
• If someone shares with you that they are expecting a breakthrough that is on the way, if you share that news without taking it to God in prayer, you are exposing that person to the devil’s attacks.
• If you are someone that can’t keep secrets, God can’t trust you.
• If your mouth is always open for gossip, God will not tell you certain things.
• There are certain secrets God will tell you that are meant for your lifting and not for telling enemies.
• Samson lost power when he revealed the secret of his strength.
• Mary kept the secret about Jesus to herself (Lk 2:51).
• Rebecca never told her husband about what God said about the children she was carrying.
• As couples, first you must know each other. If your spouse is the type that is a gossiper, there are things not to tell them.
• Abigail knew the kind of husband she had and did not tell him she had gone to see David (1 Sam 25:18-19).
• Discretion is the kind of wisdom that helps you know whether or not to do something.
Mat 2:12-13, 19-20
• Problems are not meant to be shared with everybody.
• God wants to entrust us with big things.
• There is a certain kind of information that can get you killed for saying it.
Pr 13:7
• There are people that have been killed by robbers for pretending to be rich on social media.
• If God tells you to keep something to yourself and you fail that test, He will never share anything with you because you have shown yourself to be immature.
WHY DO WE GIVE THANKS?
1. Because that’s what we were created for (Is 43:21, Rev 4:11)
2. For the gift of life (Ps 150:6 , Acts 17:25, 28)
3. For frustrating the schemes of the devil (Job 5:12)
