• Teachability is the willingness to learn, unlearn and relearn.
• As far as God is concerned, calling you to walk with Him is not an issue.
• The only thing he asks is are you available? Available for what? Reprogramming.
• If someone is teachable, even if they are backward in one area, they can be advanced.
• Run away from anyone who is not teachable.
• When a person has an unteachable spirit, it means they will remain with the programming they for from their environment.
Gen 12:1-3, 2 Cor 6:17
• Anyone can change as long as they are willing to receive new information.
• When looking for a lifetime, don’t just look at the outward beauty, seek to know how that person thinks because a person will behave according to how they think.
Gen 6:5
• If God wants to see tomorrow, He will go into the thought life of a person.
• Don’t marry a title, a title is not the character of a person.
• When you hear that a person is a pastor, don’t believe everything about them until you have studied them because a title is not character.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A TEACHABLE PERSON
1. Humility
• When a person seems to know everything, he/she is a danger. Such people don’t achieve much but are only good are talking.
• A teachable person acknowledges their limitations and seeks wisdom from others. They know that pride can hinder their growth.
2. Openness to correction
• When people have differences and sit down to resolve their differences, there must be courses of action to be taken to correct what caused the problem.
• We must be willing to learn.
• Divine direction isn’t only God telling us where to go, many times we miss the way and need God to correct us.
• Someone with an unteachable spirit develops resentment towards someone that corrects them.
3. Active listening
• A person who actively listens understands more.
4. Curiosity
5. Willingness to change
6. Seeking wise counsel
• They ask for advice genuinely because they want to know (they are hungry for wisdom).
• They are willing to learn from anybody.
